Florals by Fred: July 2013

I was hiking in the area near Heart Bar State Campground in the mountains near my home recently when I discovered some columbine, crimson in this case along the trail. It's a pretty flower, it resides in a shady spot so the paleness makes it look more orange than red. Nonetheless, it's a pretty blossom and not very common in our area. I'm going to design some more based on this image so, stay tuned! Enjoy and thanks for looking!

Bodie State Historical Park is located northeast of Yosemite, 13 miles east of Highway 395 on Bodie Road (Hwy 270), seven miles south of Bridgeport. If you've never been, take the time to pay a visit when you're in the region. It's well worth a visit. One word of caution, it's out in the sticks in one of the more extreme climates in North America. Summers are very hot and winters are very cold. Thanks for looking!
